02 November 2017
Dear Parents and Students,
What an excellent start to the year.
We are delighted with how all the Year 11 students have started this academic year and the progress that they are already making. Their first set of reports demonstrates this progress as well as guiding us to areas for development and improvement.
The year is also one of transition where all students in year 11 will be moving from Key Stage 4 and GCSEs into further study in the summer of 2018. Students have three options in September 2018:
A place in the Northern Schools Trust sixth form or another school or college.
An apprenticeship or traineeship.
Part-time education, with voluntary commitments for a further 20 hours per week.
For our part, we are committed to looking after each individual student over the year to ensure that they are well prepared for the next step. Independent careers advice meetings have already started for all of the students in year 11.
In addition, in the next few weeks, we will be taking the year 11 students to see sixth form provision within the Trust so that this can help inform their choices.
We recognise that a number of students are well on their way to making decisions in 2018 whilst some are still unsure of the next step. I am writing to offer you the first opportunities to meet us so that we can discuss the options, and start building a shared understanding of how we will work with you over the course of the year. These meetings will take no longer than 20 mins and we would hope to have met with all of you that would like some support before the end of November.

We look forward to seeing each of you in the next month.
On a separate note, please can I bring your attention to the Academy’s safeguarding, behaviour and drug policies that are available on our school website. They are updated each year and contain important information for you on how the Academy will operate these vital systems in the coming year. If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact us here at the Academy.
